Synopsis: In a dystopian future soldier are fighting aliens that have the ability to live the same day over and over again.

Review: An officer in the military named Cage ( Tom Cruise ) is tasked with storming a beach full of aliens as a counter assault to save earth. He manages to kill one of the alien leaders and accidentally gets the aliens blood on him which transfers the time travel ability from the alien to him. Cage now has the ability to reset the day every time he dies. Having a lack of necessary battle experience he seeks to recruit Rita ( Emily Blunt ) to help him save earth.

Emily Blunt is great in her films. I really did enjoy seeing this movie and the change of power dynamic between her character and Tom Cruise‘s character. At first she is the dominant character and then the movie switches the roles around. They have great character chemistry and it shows well in this movie. Its really no wonder why Tom Cruise is one of the absolute top names for male actors in Hollywood period. He did great in this movie. This film has such a simple story concept that this movie could have went bad very fast but his veteran acting talent carries this film and makes it a very good movie. We all know this guy has serious ranges in his acting skills. He is way more charismatic than most of the tough guy action stars.

Have you ever played a video game that was so hard that you “died” your way through the game. Every time you play the game you get a little farther and learn a little more about your enemies. This movie is the most interesting thing I have ever seen based on that concept. Its even better than watching video game walkthroughs on the internet ( if your into than sort of thing ). I loved the many plot twists which I will not spoil in this review. This film is more science fiction based than just an action film. You can see some of the typical action flick elements bleeding through into some of the scenes but not enough to annoy you. Tom Cruise was smart to play in a film like this rather than to chose a typical action flick with no substance and tired movie clichés like the film Collide (2016).

The cinematography was just great. The lighting, set dressing, wardrobe, and backgrounds are very well done. The CGI is really good, you can tell that a lot of time and money went into post production in order to make this a high quality movie. This movie will age well and hold up to many newer films. I appreciate the well written script that keeps the plot moving forward and tells a consistent story all the way through. If your looking for something different and exciting than I recommend this film. You may not like the action at first but the movie has a way of pulling you in. You just cant help but want to see what happens next. One of the best films I have reviewed.
