I tried to watch this movie a second time for reviews sake and I just couldn’t do it. I turned the movie off and just couldn’t watch Ban Affleck again, I just couldn’t do it. The movie has a run time of 151 minutes, so not only was the film bad in my opinion, it is a long movie on top of that. So lets get one thing straight. I conceder this to be the absolute worst film I have ever seen before in my whole life, but, the one saving grace of this film is of course the magnificent Wonder Woman.

Yeah so this is where I usually write about some deep philosophical ‘philosophy‘, but really? Should I write about Ben Affleck’s ego? What the heck the studio was thinking? Maybe we should talk about why a movie ‘should’ be made. Having a great story to tell. Perhaps the movie making technology is where it should be for films like Iron Man (2008) and Black Panther (2018). Making a film because you just ‘can’ has always ended in failure. Just look at films like Iron Man 2 (2010) and this film. All of the movie making pieces are there but no real story to tell, just overblown visual effects, unnecessary action sequences that don’t really have a place in the film but are their just to feed those in the audience who have a testosterone imbalance, and then the studio wonders why fans hated the films so much.

The cinematography is alright, no complaints. The lighting can be a little too drab. Most of the wardrobe is done well, except for the awful all metal batman outfit. There is just way too much CGI and not the good kind. Unfortunately the film lacks narrative in the first act. That’s how the movie feels, like a series of incoherent scenes, one after another. This movie also feels too long. There are too many enemies in this movie. Yes, Batman Begins (2005) has a four corner opposition that works well, this film on the other hand feels drawn out. Usually when a movie has so many characters, the film makers can’t really develop all of them. Movies like Suicide Squad (2016) and X-men (2000) have way too many characters and not enough time too develop them all. This is unfortunately a negative trend DC seems to be having when making films lately. A great example is the useless character of Lex Luther. The film is called Batman V Superman so why is this guy here? All he does is get in the way of the major plot and introduces a big giant monster that attacks the world causing Superman to make a critical choice. I’m reminded of a similar film, AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004). That film could have just giving us the two creatures fighting each other in a shameless summer big budget action flick, but the film makers gave us all of these absolutely useless characters that get in the way of the story rather than pushing the story forward so we can finally get to the fight the movies are named after. Bottom line is that this film is a hard lesson for DC to learn. Your cinematic universe should have quality over quantity, have an actual story to tell, and don’t over rely on CGI that wont age well. I can’t recommend this film unless your are a big fan of Wonder Woman.
