Justice League (2017)

Score: 7/10

Synopsis: Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy.

Review: A Villain from another world tries to destroy the Earth by using three magical boxes. Batman unites a team of Heroes to stand against the evil invaders. Basically the same kind of story as all the other space invasion comic book super hero movies, but hey! We has Superman and Wonder Woman so lets dig right in!

Diana the Wonder Woman.

Diana Prince

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is the only reason I watched this movie. Her character is well balanced. She can take the lead when necessary and be a support warrior when needed. She has a very realistic female personality that knows how to care for the other team members. She knows how to talk to the male characters in order to bring out the best in them like a real female can. She helps them see the logic in a situation and shows empathy. I am very grateful that this kind of personality is apart of this film. Diana is a very versatile character that balances out the team and gives the team members the morale boost they need. Honesty, when I first heard that DC was going to start using Wonder Woman in their films, I was not sure how well they where going to use her and if she was going to have a major impact on the film industry as a whole. Was it just gender identity politics of the time or was it just because there are not a lot of female super heroes leads in today’s films? I am proud to say that she won me over. She is powerful but not too powerful, so she can still drive a story forward and still have room for character development. She is still learning about herself and others. It great to watch her on her journey.

I still don’t know what they where thinking by casting Ben Affleck as batman. All of the other people who played in the live action films as the Batman character have done a good job, all except Val Kilmer. I still think somebody talked him into the role. Kilmer just seems like he was lost and wondered onto the wrong movie set. Ben on the other hand, has no charisma of any kind. Batman is supposed to be a really cool guy that people are captivated by. Look at how popular Batman’s character is still to this day. Ben Affleck’s version just seems like he is begging people for help while the Christian Bell version gets help he doesn’t even want all throughout the Dark Knight (2008) film. He has no trouble what so ever getting people on his side.

Gal Gadot as Diana Prince Wonder Woman.

Thank You!

This is usually the part when I talk about some deeper philosophical ideology, but really? Flying insect-men, a very typical end-of-days style villain, and Superman? I guess we can say that the film focuses on the concept that DC wants their own version of the Avengers (2012) complete with a lack of charm, style, and the charisma of the Marvel movie. Again, Diana Prince is the real reason to watch this film. The cinematography is aright. The whole movie looks like the Injustice video games. The CGI looks kind of weird also. The lighting sometimes doesn’t match the backgrounds, to the live action characters, and the GCI objects. They all seems to have subtle deference’s in the lighting which makes them look like a video game. There are so many of these kind of films in theaters today that I think audiences are getting a little tired of them now. Not to mention the similarities between this film and the Avengers. Maybe that’s just an inevitability when you make a film like this. The movie is just alright. Nothing extravagant, but not a bad film. If you like Wonder Woman than definitely watch this movie.
