The best Celebrity TV Shows ever.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)
Score: 8/10
Director: David Fincher
Stars: Rooney Mara, Daniel Craig, Christopher Plummer, Stellan Skarsgård.
Synopsis: A young computer hacker aids a journalist in the search for a missing young girl who has been gone for forty years.
Review: After losing a court case that will leave him penniless, Mikael Blomkvist ( Daniel Craig ) is tasked with the search for a missing young woman who has been gone for over forty years. He enlist the help from an unlikely friend Lisbeth Salander ( Rooney Mara ). Together they take on a very dangerous and hidden enemy.
Rooney Mara is a very interesting imitation of the world famous character Lisbeth Salander. I like to think of Lisbeth Salander as the female James Bond of my generation. She is who she is and not some carbon copy of Ian Fleming's character. Rooney Mara does well here and is very convincing. Her on set chemistry with Daniel Craig works and the two celebrities make this film come together. This is one of Daniel Craig's better works rather than films such as Tomb Raider (2001) with Angelina Jolie. I do like his work in the film Dream House (2011) with Rachel Weisz. He plays a more complex character here and you get to see more of his acting range. This is refreshing since his characters where always very shallow earlier in his career.
The film focuses on realism. regular action films tent to draw out scenes in order to make them more suspenseful but this film does not due that. that way people die reflects real life. their is one scenes where someone crashes a car and its very realistic to physics and convincing. the film A movie called The Hunted (2003) with Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio Del Toro has a very realist car chase scene as well. instead of giving us unrealistic hacking, we get less scenes of Lisbeth Salander's computer screen as to help keep the film realistic rather than character pressing a red button that does all of the work for her. I love the research aspect of these films because that is what would happen in real life. being a drama based film this movie will age well. sadly we won’t get this duo of Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig in the next film.
The cinematography is great and very iconic. The camera style is inspired by Niels Arden Oplev's camera work for the Swedish ( real ) version of this film. The TV show Mr. Robot was also Directed by Niels Arden Oplev, which seemingly created a male version of Lisbeth Salander. I love that show by the way and I also love that fact that its the same director for episode one of season one. There is a sort of validation that is cemented into the show and its concepts. true art is what these shows and movies are. The lighting, backgrounds, set dressing, and wardrobe are all fitting for this kind of story since its raw and gritty much more like real life. This film is far more comfortable to watch since you don’t have to read the subtitles on the screen unless you know Swedish. This is not by any means a family film so don’t do it! The movie reflects real life without any filter what so ever and so does the Swedish version. there are some people who are not going to like this movie due to the very violent and controversial scenes and its understandable. if your into a film that is more drama based then give this one a go. the movie is far better than average.
